Man Wounded by Gunshot; Auto Shop Owner Arrested
A 25-year-old man was shot and wounded in the chest just before 11 a.m. Monday, police said, and the 26-year-old owner of an auto repair shop was arrested in connection with the shooting.
Ralph Marlin Cox was found wounded outside the shop in the 16400 block of Gothard Street and taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange for surgery.
Police arrested Shawn McCarthy at the scene, in a light industrial area.
A woman who owns a nearby store, who did not want to be identified, said: “We heard 10 or 12 moans and groans. . . . This has been a very nice area. Nothing’s ever happened like this before. We’re stunned.”
