OUTLOOK
It is safe to say the Hawks, one of the top teams in the county, are legitimate candidates to win their sixth league title in a row. Five starting pitchers return as well as the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 spots in the batting order. Nista is an all-everything preseason pick who hit .455 last year and had 11 home runs. DeVito is a two-time all-league designated hitter, and Bennett hits behind him and was a first-team all-league pick. Johnson, McDermott, Hills, Miller and Milo, the lone left-hander, all got starts on the mound for the Hawks last season. Also, several younger players have stepped up from the lower levels and should push for playing time. Throw in the Hawks’ good defense and team speed, and this could be Laguna Hills’ best team ever.
