Countywide : Road Work Today on Costa Mesa Freeway
Motorists may find it slow going on the Costa Mesa Freeway today due to road work.
The car-pool lanes between the Santa Ana Freeway interchange and McFadden Avenue will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for bridge work, California Department of Transportation officials said.
The left-hand lanes of eastbound and westbound 1st Street between Mabury Street and Cabrillo Park Drive will be closed during the same period, also for bridge construction.
The projects are part of the big Santa Ana Freeway widening project, which includes reconstruction of the interchange at the Costa Mesa Freeway and the addition of elevated, direct-connect ramps that will allow buses and car-poolers to switch freeways without changing lanes.
