Thanks to All Who Helped After Disaster

Share

* On behalf of our daughter, Heather, and her husband, Tom Denning, who lived in the apartment complex next to the Northridge Meadows, which dramatically collapsed, we want to thank publicly the many good citizens who provided so much help and support after the Jan. 17 earthquake.

The Northridge Methodist Church immediately made available an office for coordinating relief efforts and communications with tenants. Guiliano’s Delicatessen, which had much damage, helped the nearby residents with phone service and refreshments.

Later, firemen from many stations in Los Angeles city and county brought out personal belongings by ladder and ropes. That was a great physical and emotional lift. City building and safety workers also helped.

Then, when all insurance requirements had been arranged, Mike Mc Philomy and other Cullen and Sons Demolition Co. employees were very helpful and cooperative with tenants in bringing out personal items of financial and emotional value.

The police and National Guard members who protected the severely damaged complex from looting are also to be greatly commended.

So let’s thank and remember the good people who have helped our daughter and son-in-law, and so many others, to begin to recover from a most devastating tragedy. They performed a beautiful and caring public service.
