AZUSA: A man wielding a sawed-off shotgun stole an undetermined amount of cash from the Ranch Market at 150 W. 9th St. about 9 p.m. Sunday. The man stormed into the market waving the gun, ordered customers to the floor and ransacked the register, witnesses said. He fled in a blue Chevy pickup truck that was waiting for him in the parking lot. No arrests were made and no injuries were reported.

ARCADIA: Four robbers armed with handguns and an Uzi entered a jewelry store at 921 S. Baldwin Ave. at 5:10 p.m. last Thursday, bound four employees with tape, and escaped with more than $200,000 in jewelry and cash, police said. None of the employees were injured and no arrests have been made.

CLAREMONT: A partial human skeleton was unearthed by a transient in a field near the city’s border with Upland, police reported. The transient, who lives in the field north of Baseline Road and east of Padua Avenue, discovered a human pelvis, a spinal column that appeared to have been sawed off near the head and a number of other bones about 10:15 a.m. last Thursday. The Los Angeles County coroner is investigating.

PASADENA: A Long Beach exterminator survived multiple stab wounds during a carjacking early Thursday by pushing away from his attackers and running down a jogging track along the Arroyo Seco, police said. Matt Kohlwey, 22, left Islands Restaurant at 3533 E. Foothill Blvd. about 3 a.m. and was about to drive away when he was jumped by a group of men who forced him into the back of his pickup truck and drove to an area under the Colorado Street Bridge, police said. The men pulled Kohlwey out of the truck and stabbed him several times, puncturing at least one of his lungs, but he managed to run to a trail and escape. Kohlwey’s truck was recovered intact about four hours later in northwest Pasadena, police said. He was listed in fair condition at Huntington Memorial Hospital.

POMONA: A 15-year-old was slain Tuesday night in a shooting at Cantera Street and Edgehill Drive, police said. Carlos Guzman was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center after officers arrived at 9:20 p.m. Guzman died at the hospital shortly after arrival, police said. Witnesses told police they saw three or four men running from the scene to a waiting vehicle shortly after the shots were fired. No arrests have been made.

SOUTH PASADENA: A 19-year-old Arcadia man was the victim of a carjacking Tuesday night as he stood next to his 1985 Jeep Cherokee parked near Fair Oaks and Monterey avenues, police said. He said two men had approached him about 9:30 p.m. and held a knife to his throat until he gave them the keys to his vehicle. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.
