ECHO PARK : Pregnant? Bilingual Nutrition Lecture Set

Share

A free, bilingual lecture on nutrition during pregnancy will be presented Saturday at the Echo Park Branch Library, 515 N. Laveta Terrace.

“Eating for Two” will be presented in English and Spanish by Cecilia Arias of CIGNA’s Health Education Division. The lecture begins at 1 p.m.

This event is one of a series of free, health-related presentations offered through April at library branches in the Northeast region, which includes Chinatown, Little Tokyo and East Los Angeles. The lecture at each branch is tailored to the community’s health concerns and language needs, said Sylvia Galan-Garcia, senior librarian at the Echo Park branch.

Other branches provided information on smoking, diabetes and shiatsu massage, but staff at the Echo Park branch saw a need for a pregnancy-related lecture. “We get a lot of requests for books on pregnancy and prenatal care,” Galan-Garcia said.

The lecture series is being funded by a grant from the American Library Assn.
