A 24-year-old Oxnard woman died following a head-on collision on a stretch of Santa Rosa Road in Camarillo Saturday morning, sheriff’s officials said.

Five other people were injured in the collision, which occurred on a curve of Santa Rosa Road by the Camrosa Water District headquarters.

The crash occurred shortly after 7 a.m. when Aldape’s husband, Fernando Jimenez, crossed over the center divider in his small pickup truck and collided with a full-size pickup driven by Ramon Garcia of Oxnard, Lt. Gary Backman said.

Jimenez and his four adult passengers--Aldape and another in the cab and two in the truck bed--were all injured.

Jimenez was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center with internal injuries and was listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit Saturday night, a nursing supervisor said.

Garcia was taken to Pleasant Valley Hospital with moderate injuries.

He was treated and released, a nursing supervisor said.

Conditions and injuries of Jimenez’s other three passengers were not reported.

Sheriff’s officials said they were unsure whether the accident was caused by speeding or rain.

At least three other people have died in automobile accidents on Santa Rosa Road in recent years.
