DANA POINT : City Offers Grants to Nonprofit Services

Share

Nonprofit groups that provide services to local residents can apply for grants from the city.

Applications are available for the 1993-94 grant program and must be returned by April 1 to City Hall, 33282 Golden Lantern, Suite 203.

City officials say priority will be given to funding requests under the following criteria:

* Local nonprofit groups with active programs have the highest priority.

* Projects or services that fill needs within Dana Point that are not currently being served.

* Programs that target local residents.

* Projects that spend a minimum amount on administration.

* Willingness of groups to share information about the program with the general public and the community.

City officials stress that the money should be spent providing the service rather than paying office expenses, administrative salaries or other operating costs.

The applications should give specific information about how the funding would be spent, who the grant would benefit and where people live who would be served by the program.
