SAN CLEMENTE : Noise From Exercises at Base May Be Heard
People living as far as 50 miles from Camp Pendleton--including many cities in South County--may hear loud explosions or feel rumblings on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. because of base training sessions, officials said Wednesday.
The explosions will occur as 500-pound bombs are dropped from fixed-wing aircraft into the middle of the base, known as the “Zulu impact area,” officials said in a news release. Depending on weather conditions, sound from the explosions could be amplified.
For more information, contact the base at (619) 725-5043.
