Heart Group Offers Quake Survival Kits
Seeing a need to fill after the Jan. 17 earthquake caught so many residents by surprise, the Ventura County chapter of the American Heart Assn. is selling three-day survival emergency kits to help raise funds.
Proceeds from sales of the Ark III and Survival Basics kits will go toward fighting heart disease and stroke, association officials say.
The Ark III, which costs $14, contains an emergency blanket, three days of food for one person and six packets of water. The Survival Basics, available for $21, contains a flashlight, batteries and medical kit in addition to the contents of the Ark III and six more packets of water.
For more information, call the association at 485-4300.
