NHL ROUNDUP : Lemieux Gets There Just in Time
Mario Lemieux was nowhere to be found.
When the Pittsburgh Penguins’ bus began the trip to the Richfield Coliseum at 9 a.m. Sunday, Lemieux wasn’t aboard. He’d forgotten to set his clock ahead an hour.
“The time change got to me this morning,” said Lemieux, who made it to the neutral-site game at Richfield, Ohio in time to score two goals and two assists as the Penguins beat the Boston Bruins, 6-2.
The Penguins went 6-0 against Boston this year.
Dallas 6, Washington 3--Mike Modano got two goals and newcomer Pelle Eklund and Mike Craig scored 37 seconds apart in a four-goal second period that lifted the Stars at Landover, Md.
The victory gave the Stars 92 points, tying them with Toronto for second-best in the Western Conference.
Detroit 3, St. Louis 3--Curtis Joseph made 47 saves at Detroit to help the Blues get a tie.
With the point, first-place Detroit moved four points ahead of Toronto in the Central Division.
Chicago 2, Calgary 1--Ed Belfour, returning from a five-game injury layoff, made 36 saves at Chicago as the Blackhawks ended a six-game winless streak.
