New Manager Hired for Coliseum
Patrick Lynch, currently general manager of the Knickerbocker Arena in Albany, N.Y., was named GM of the Coliseum and Sports Arena, effective April 15.
Lynch replaces Jay Hagerman, who was named general manager of the Mobile Civic Center in Alabama.
Tennis
No. 11 Brenda Schultz of the Netherlands lost to Joannette Kruger of South Africa, 6-1, 6-2.
Second-seeded Sabine Appelmans needed only 80 minutes to defeat fellow Belgian Nathalie Baudone, 6-2, 6-4, in the opening round of the Japan Open in Tokyo. In other action, No. 10 Patrick McEnroe defeated Omar Camporese.

Scott Hamilton became the second former Olympic champion to withdraw from the men’s competition in the Hershey’s Kisses Pro-Am Thursday and Friday at the Sports Arena, citing personal reasons because of the recent death of his father. Brian Boitano earlier withdrew because of a groin injury.
