Barry Switzer’s first team meeting with the Dallas Cowboys went fine for 20 minutes, until wide receiver Michael Irvin spoke up and then walked out.

Irvin, demonstratively upset at coach Jimmy Johnson’s departure last week, spoke out when Switzer credited team owner Jerry Jones for building the Cowboys into two-time Super Bowl champions.

Irvin interrupted by talking about the difficulty players had in contract negotiations. Switzer reportedly asked Irvin to let him continue and asked for them to meet later, but Irvin marched out.

“I’ve got nothing to say to nobody,” Irvin said later. “I don’t know anything. Don’t even bring those cameras over to my locker, because I’m not talking.”

Irvin told the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram that he and Jones will meet today.
