Train Crew’s Dinner Break Could Be Costly

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. —
It took more than an hour for officials to find the crew of a freight train that had stopped near a crossing, causing the warning gates to descend and block traffic.
The train was stopped about 25 to 30 feet from the crossing while the crew took a leisurely dinner break Wednesday, officials said.
The conductor, John R. Larkey, was charged with obstruction of traffic. If convicted, he could get up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
