2 Sought in Shooting of Bicyclist in Oxnard
Oxnard police are looking for two juveniles suspected of shooting and attempting to rob an 18-year-old Oxnard man while he was riding his bicycle about 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Hull Place in Oxnard.
Gilbert Ortiz was shot once in the left leg and once in the lower back, a Police Department spokesman said. He was treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center and is listed in fair condition.
Details on the incident were sketchy, the spokesman said, but a witness reported seeing the victim and two others arguing on the street. As the argument escalated, Ortiz reportedly tried to ride away on his bicycle and was shot by one of the young men. The pair fled the scene, the spokesman said.
