A woman posing for a picture fell from the upper deck in right field at the Texas Rangers’ new stadium, The Ballpark in Arlington, shortly after Monday’s season opener ended, team officials said.

A security guard was on the way to tell Holly Minter, 26, from Plano, Tex., to get off the rail when she slipped and landed in the lower deck. Minter was taken by helicopter to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, where she was listed in serious condition.

X-rays were negative, but David Justice of the Atlanta Braves is expected to be out for about a week after re-injuring his sprained ankle Sunday against the Dodgers. . . . Bobby Bonilla of the New York Mets, who suffered stretched ligaments in his left shoulder Sunday in Houston, is expected to return to the lineup next weekend. . . . Minnesota Twin first baseman Kent Hrbek, 33, confirmed that he will retire after this season. . . . The Seattle Mariners put reserve catcher Mackey Sasser on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained right knee.
