BALDWIN PARK: A chemical reaction caused an explosion that blew out the windows of the bedroom of a Baldwin Park home where police found the remains of a methamphetamine lab. Officers responded to the explosion in the 4200 block of Stewart Avenue about 9 p.m. Fridayand arrested Patrick Lee Igoe, 19, on drug-related charges.

BRADBURY: Corwin Larson, a 47-year-old former Bradbury man with a history of mental disorders, was sentenced Tuesday in Pasadena Superior Court to 15 years to life in prison for the 1992 strangulation death of his psychiatrist wife, Agnes Larson Kulcsar, 44. Larson, who was found guilty March 21 of second-degree murder, also was sentenced to an additional year for slashing his wife with a razor during the murder.

LA PUENTE: A man threatened to blow up his girlfriend’s apartment complex and left a fake bomb at her doorstep last Wednesday , prompting the evacuation of about 65 residents. The bomb squad was sent to 13705 Sunkist Drive shortly after 1 p.m., but the metal canister left on the porch contained a non-explosive chemical.

LA VERNE: A Wells Fargo Bank branch at 2079 Bonita Ave. was robbed Monday afternoon by a woman who threatened a teller with an unseen handgun and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. Officers said the robbery occurred about 12:45 p.m. The woman is described as white, in her 30s, with blond hair pulled back into a ponytail and dark blemishes on her face.

MONROVIA: Police pursued and arrested two men after neighbors reported seeing them trying to open a locked door at a residence in the 300 block of West Central Avenue about 9:30 a.m. last Thursday. Arrested were William Rouss, 44, of Los Angeles, and Juan Trenco, 27, of Glendale.

PASADENA: A 31-year-old Pasadena man was arrested Sunday for allegedly raping a former neighbor, police said. Officers responded about 11 a.m. to calls from neighbors on East Howard Street who heard screams and glass breaking. They arrested Luis Castaneda on suspicion of rape, attempted rape and burglary. He is being held in the County Jail.

POMONA: A man with a gun disrupted Sunday services at St. Joseph’s Church at 1150 W. Holt Ave. when he stormed into the congregation about 12:15 p.m. and began yelling religious slurs and waving a handgun. Several church members were able to restrain the man until police arrived. The man, whose name was not released, is being held in the city jail. The gun was found to be unloaded, police said.

POMONA: Three men pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Pomona Municipal Court in connection with the April 1 home invasion robbery of a Diamond Bar family and the rape of a 13-year-old girl at the residence, the district attorney’s office reported. Clint Jacob, 18, Gilburt Galves, 23, and Owen Lino, 20, each were charged with residential robbery, rape in concert, oral copulation, assault with intent to commit rape, grand theft auto and attempted robbery. A 17-year-old juvenile was arraigned last week on similar charges.

POMONA: A father and son driving to work were struck and killed by a suspected drunk driver early Monday morning, police reported. James Henry Specht, 58, and his 27-year-old son Michael Henry Specht were killed in the accident at Valley and Temple boulevards. Arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and felony drunken driving was John Michael Mechekoff, 29, of La Puente.
