SOCCER : U.S. Will Play Moldova Today

The U.S. national soccer team will play Moldova today in the first of two matches against the former Soviet republic.

The match will be Moldova’s first full international since it gained independence in 1991. The team is expected to bring a full complement of players, including some who play in European professional leagues.

The U.S. team is in its final stages of preparation for this summer’s World Cup and with each game Coach Bora Milutinovic comes closer to determining his 22-man roster.

Brad Friedel will start in goal.

The teams will play again next Wednesday in Davidson, N.C.
