Varco International Inc.: The Orange manufacturer of oil and gas well drilling equipment and machinery said first-quarter profit reached $2.4 million, or 7 cents a share, an 85% gain from $1.3 million, or 4 cents a share, posted for the first quarter of 1993. Revenue rose 12% to $51.3 million from $45.8 million.
