Volunteers Sought to Help Crime Victims

Share

The Ventura County district attorney’s office is seeking volunteers to help crime victims deal with emotional, physical and financial effects of the assaults.

People who are bilingual in English and Spanish are especially needed, said Deanna May, a spokeswoman for the office.

Volunteers will receive training in counseling distraught victims following crimes. The volunteers will also act as advocates to help prepare victims for the sometimes confusing and complex procedures involved in prosecuting suspects.

The next training session begins May 3. Volunteers will be asked to commit eight hours of each workweek for six months or more.
