A Thousand Oaks woman was raped and robbed at gunpoint Tuesday evening as she was closing up the boutique where she worked, authorities said.

A man entered the business in the 3900 block of Thousand Oaks Boulevard about 6 p.m., just before closing, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said.

He showed the woman a handgun, forced her into a back office, tied her hands behind her back and assaulted her, deputies said.

He then took money from her purse and the cash register and fled the store on foot, authorities said.

Sheriff’s officials said they believe that the case may be linked to other robberies that have occurred in recent months in Thousand Oaks and in Los Angeles County, but the previous incidents have not included rape.

The man was described as white, about 40 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. He was wearing a dark baseball cap, sunglasses and a dark jacket.
