What’s Up? Dock Will Be Closed

Share

Some might say the decision to close the Silverwood Lake dock to fishing is, well, a crappie one. Lake management says it is a necessary one.

“We were getting 50-60 people, even on weekdays, fishing for crappie,” marina supervisor Kevin Howard said. “People were tripping over each other and hooking each other.”

But the last straw, Howard said, was when a smoker carelessly flicked a lighted cigarette last Thursday, setting fire to the dock. “That’s when management said, ‘No more crappie fishing,’ ” Howard said. The dock will remain closed to fishing indefinitely.
