Share

The owner of a neighborhood market in Santa Paula was confronted by an armed man, robbed and tied up after she opened her store Saturday morning, authorities said.

The man apparently broke into Gil’s Market at 1220 Saticoy St. and waited for the owner to open her business just before 9 a.m., Santa Paula police said.

The owner, whose name was not released, was forced to open the safe and hand over an undisclosed amount of cash to the gunman, a police spokesman said. After robbing the woman, the gunman tied her up and then fled. She was able to escape soon after and was unharmed, the spokesman said.
