GARDEN GROVE : Fall Kindergarten Registration to Begin

Share

Registration for fall kindergarten classes in the Garden Grove Unified School District will begin Wednesday.

A child must turn 5 on or before Dec. 2 to be eligible, without exception, said district spokesman Alan Trudell.

Parents must provide their local school with proof of their child’s age, including a birth certificate, passport, baptism certificate, immigration visa or affidavit from the child’s parent or guardian when no other documents are available, he said.

California law requires children to be immunized for polio, red measles, diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, German measles and mumps. Parents must provide written documentation of the immunizations from their physician or health care agency, Trudell said.

Immunizations are available from private medical doctors or at clinics maintained by the Orange County Health Care Agency. Parents should call (714) 834-4722 for clinic locations.

Children should receive a checkup during their visit for immunizations. An examination given then will fulfill the legal requirements for a first-grade physical. The necessary forms are available at school offices, Trudell said.
