LOS ANGELES : Panel Seeks to Extend LAX Smoking Ban to Bars

Share

The Los Angeles Airport Commission asked the City Council on Tuesday to include bars in airport smoking restrictions.

Commissioners want a total ban in bars, rather than 75% of their floor area, as outlined in an ordinance that the council passed last year. That law also barred smokers from lighting up in public circulation and waiting areas, ticketing lines and restaurants.

Since the smoking ban, smokers have been congregating in bars, Commission President Ted Stein said.

One-quarter of the waiting area in the in-transit lounge would remain a designated smoking zone, Stein said.
