Oswald Advances in Surfing Event
Billy Oswald of Huntington Beach won his third-round heat Monday to advance in the junior division of the 1994 World Amateur surfing championships at Barra Da Tijuca, Brazil.
Oswald has won three consecutive heats and is one of 14 U.S. Surfing Federation team members who have advanced.
Also advancing were Huntington Beach’s Jason Harcharic in the men’s division and Laguna Niguel’s Curtis Payan in the bodyboarding division.
The contest continues through Saturday.
