RANCHO PALOS VERDES : City Opposes Proposed MTA Bus Service Cuts

Share

Rancho Palos Verdes officials oppose a proposal by the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority to cut bus services on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

The authority is considering service reductions on Routes 225, 226, and 444 to cut expenses. City administrative analyst Veronica Dolleschel said 11 of the authority’s proposed 22 cutbacks in the 1994-95 budget could affect bus users on the peninsula.

Options include canceling operation of all three lines on Saturdays, canceling all Sunday and holiday service on the 444, and reducing the 225 and 226 service to one bus every two hours.

In a letter to the authority, Mayor Steven Kuykendall says the city has serious concerns about the proposed cuts. He suggests raising fares to maintain service.
