ARCADIA: A gunman robbed Fidelity Federal Bank at 1400 S. Baldwin Ave. at 2:30 p.m. Friday, police said. The man forced tellers to give him more than $1,000, then fled through the lobby. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made, police said.

BALDWIN PARK: A man found shot to death over the weekend in an industrial area of Baldwin Park was identified Monday, Sheriff’s Department deputies said. Anthony Herrera, 29, died from several gunshot wounds to his upper body, deputies said. Herrera was shot just before 7 p.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of North Park Avenue. A man was reportedly seen leaving the scene in a pickup truck, deputies said.

EL MONTE: Officers arrested two men after they attempted to rob a shoe store May 4 and then fled to an occupied apartment to hide from police. Hugo Gonzales, 26, of San Gabriel and Jose Mario Martinez, 20, of El Monte were caught after they tried to rob the Payless Shoe Store at 11865 Valley Blvd. about 4:15 p.m., police said. During the robbery, a store employee tripped the alarm. As police cars drove in front of the shoe store, the men ran out the front door and into an apartment complex in the 11800 block of Lansdale Street, police said. They reportedly forced entry into one of the units and confronted a man and a woman in the apartment. While the man struggled with the two, the woman called the police, and the two were arrested a short time later. No injuries were reported.

PASADENA: A 22-year-old man was shot in the face Sunday in the 1900 block of Summit Avenue about 9 a.m., police said. His name was not released. The man was hospitalized in critical condition. No arrests have been made and the shooting is under investigation.

SAN DIMAS: Two men were arrested and more than two pounds of high-grade “China white” heroin were seized in a raid on a San Dimas home last Thursday, agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration reported. Thomas Riley, 58, of San Dimas and Eldon Han, 43, of Honolulu were booked for investigation of processing and distributing cocaine, agents said. Riley was arrested after he allegedly sold 350 grams of heroin to undercover agents in an Ontario hotel parking lot. The rest of the substance, which had an estimated street value of $1 million, was found at his San Dimas home, where Han was arrested, agents said. The arrests capped a two-year investigation into what DEA officials allege is a large network that smuggles heroin from Southeast Asia to points in the United States. The investigation was carried out by agents from the DEA, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Inland Regional Narcotics Enforcement Task Force, agents said. Riley and Han were being held without bail at the downtown federal detention center pending a preliminary hearing May 19.

SAN MARINO: The investigation into the case of a dismembered body found in the back yard of a home in the 1900 block of Lorain Road is continuing, deputies reported Monday. A trisected skeleton wrapped in plastic was unearthed last Thursday afternoon by workers digging a hole for a new pool. The remains have not been identified by the county coroner’s office, deputies said. Detectives have speculated that the remains may be related to a missing persons report filed with the San Marino Police Department in 1985. The report was filed by a former resident of the house, Ruth (DiDi) Sohus, after her adopted son Jonathan, and his wife, Linda, disappeared on their way to Europe. A search of the yard has revealed no further human remains.
