MOORPARK : Write-In Candidate Joins Supervisor Race
A Moorpark man has qualified as a write-in candidate in the race for Ventura County’s 4th District supervisorial seat held by Vicky Howard, officials said Tuesday.
Tim Kalemkarian, who could not be reached for comment, will be the fourth candidate competing in the June 7 election. The other candidates are Simi Valley Council members Barbara Williamson and Judy Mikels and Moorpark Councilman Scott Montgomery.
Although Simi Valley parks official James Meredith dropped out of the supervisor’s race last month, his name will still appear on the ballot.
Kalemkarian, a 35-year-old Republican, collected the more than two dozen voter signatures needed to qualify as a write-in candidate, said Jenny Harrison, a county elections official. Kalemkarian’s name will not appear on the ballot, but voters supporting him can simply fill out a form with his name, Harrison said.
