SANTA ANA : Condo Fire Leaves Six Homeless

Share

A fire destroyed two units of a condominium complex Tuesday, leaving at least six people homeless and causing about $250,000 damage.

Santa Ana Fire Department spokesman Karl Feierabend said the fire started about 1 p.m. in one of the ground floor units at South Coast Terrace, 1001 W. Stevens Ave.

Thirty-five firefighters from the Santa Ana and Costa Mesa fire departments contained the blaze in 15 minutes, Feierabend said. No injuries were reported.

Two of the units in the complex were destroyed and another was damaged. Investigators continued sifting through the rubble late Tuesday afternoon, seeking the fire’s cause.

The American Red Cross provided at least five people with hotel rooms, clothing and food and, in one case, medicine. The Red Cross will also help the evacuees find places to rent, officials said.
