CLAREMONT: A 28-year-old man was shot Sunday by another man who was apparently upset over the victim’s treatment of a girlfriend. Grady Bernard Blocker was shot at 9:50 p.m. in his apartment in the 900 block of West Arrow Highway, police said.

After an apparent argument, the man shot Blocker three or four times, police said. He was shot in the left arm, stomach and left hip and was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. The shooter fled in a white, four-door car with tinted windows, police said. Detectives are searching for him.

HACIENDA HEIGHTS: An argument Sunday in a bar over a mutual girlfriend turned deadly after one man pulled a gun and chased another through the parking lot before shooting him to death, deputies said. Ronald Coulter, 52, and Andres Llamas, 36, were reportedly arguing over the woman at 11:40 a.m. inside the Sportsman Bar. During the argument, Coulter allegedly threatened Llamas and said he was going to get a gun, deputies said. A short time later, Coulter confronted Llamas with a handgun in the bar’s parking lot. Coulter chased Llamas through the lot, firing numerous rounds at him, deputies said. Llamas was struck several times in the upper torso and staggered back into the bar, where he collapsed and died. Coulter fled but turned himself in about an hour later at the Industry sheriff’s station, where he was booked on suspicion of murder, deputies said.

MONROVIA: The arrests of seven teen-agers riding in a stolen car Friday morning may have revealed a car theft ring. The youths were stopped in the 100 block of East Greystone Avenue about 3 a.m., police said. Five were released and two others, 17 and 18, were charged with vehicular grand theft. The two Rosemead youths reportedly told detectives about a group of thieves who specialize in stealing Honda Civics; police said they were able to track down three additional stolen vehicles. Detectives hope to recover more cars.

PASADENA: A 27-year-old man suffered serious injuries Monday when his car crashed into a pole in a residential Pasadena neighborhood. Henry Vera Jr. was driving a blue Nissan compact at high speed about 1 a.m. in the 1500 block of North Marengo Avenue when he apparently lost control, police said. Officers said the car flipped and hit an electrical power pole. Rescuers used the Jaws of Life to free the injured man, who was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital. He was listed in critical but stable condition.

PASADENA: Four male teen-agers drove a 14-year-old girl from her home in Huntington Beach to Pasadena and left her in an abandoned house, where she was apparently raped by someone else Sunday, police said. The girl was driven by people she knew and was dropped off at the vacant house, police said. Police are still questioning the teen-agers, who reportedly told police they could not take the girl home.

POMONA: A 31-year-old man allegedly under the influence of cocaine discharged two rifles and an AK-47 assault rifle early Friday morning in a home in the 1200 block of Nashville Court, police said. No one was injured in the 25-round shooting spree, however, and Humberto Arias was apprehended without incident. He was booked at L.A. County Jail on charges of shooting a firearm within city limits and being under the influence of cocaine.

SAN MARINO: Additional remains unearthed in the back yard of a San Marino home Friday were identified as chicken bones and the leg bone of a horse, deputies said. Sheriff’s detectives said the bones were found just before noon, a few hours after investigators had cleared the site and allowed workers to continue digging a hole for a pool in the 1900 block of Lorain Road. Three bags containing a trisected human skeleton were discovered last week by construction workers, deputies said.

Sheriff’s detectives said the victim may have been a previous resident of the house missing since 1985. San Marino police said missing persons reports were filed on Jonathan Sohus and his wife, Linda, that year. The coroner’s office determined the skeleton to be that of an adult male, and investigators hope dental records will reveal whether it is Jonathan Sohus, deputies said.
