LONG BEACH : 5 Face Charges in Slaying of Woman in Her Home

Share

Five people are facing criminal charges in connection with the killing of a Long Beach woman who was beaten and stabbed in her Long Beach home last December, police said Thursday.

The suspects were booked for murder in the Dec. 2 attack on Ruby Chong at her residence in the 2100 block of Baltic Avenue, Long Beach Police Detective Logan Wren said.

Police on Wednesday arrested Tabitha Brown, 20, of Ontario. Their investigation led them to Brown’s sister, Cindy Brown, 18, of Carson, and three other Carson teen-agers--two 17-year-old-boys and a 16-year-old boy whose names were withheld because of their ages, said Detective John Boston. He said a break in the case came when detectives obtained a warrant for Tabitha Brown’s arrest on charges of forging several of the victim’s checks.
