Third baseman Dave Hollins, one of two Phillies to start all 42 games, suffered a broken index finger on his left hand in Sunday’s 8-3 victory over the New York Mets. The hand was placed in a cast, where it will remain for the next four weeks, the team said.

Randy Tomlin, a 14-game winner in 1992 who couldn’t pitch his way back into the Pittsburgh Pirates’ rotation after elbow surgery, was demoted to triple-A Buffalo. . . . Michael Jordan went hitless in five at-bats with two strikeouts for the Birmingham Barons of the double-A Southern League. Jordan is batting .221.
