COLLEGE TRACK : Titans’ Tansley Earns a Spot in NCAA Meet
Mike Tansley of Cal State Fullerton ran the fifth-best 3,000-meter steeplechase time this season among Division I athletes at the Twilight Invitational Wednesday at Long Beach State.
Tansley won the race in 8 minutes 41.27 seconds to earn an automatic berth in the NCAA meet, which starts Tuesday in Boise, Ida. He also became Fullerton’s first qualifier for the NCAA meet since the program was reinstated in 1989.
Before Wednesday, Tansley’s best time this year was 8:52.53, which would have left him on the bubble to get in with an at-large bid.
