A 16-year-old girl was struck and killed by a train late Saturday in what coroners’ investigators said was the third apparent suicide on Orange County railroad tracks in the past four weeks.

Cecilia Pacheco of Anaheim walked in front of an Orange County Metrolink train near South Cypress Street in Anaheim about 9 p.m., authorities said Sunday.

Police had no further details and officials of the Orange County Transportation Authority could not be reached for comment.

On May 12, a 28-year-old man, apparently distraught over a breakup with his girlfriend, backed his car onto railroad tracks in Laguna Niguel.

A few days earlier in Irvine, a 17-year-girl from that city dived onto railroad tracks in front of an Amtrak train in another suicide.
