A $20,000 reward has been established for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the intruders responsible for the June 5 shooting deaths of two teen-agers at a San Marino party celebrating the end of the school year.

The reward fund was announced Monday by the city of San Marino and the San Marino Chinese Club, each of which put up $10,000.

David Heng, 15, of San Marino, and Dennis Buan, 18, of South Pasadena were killed and several other party-goers were injured in the 1 a.m. attack, which came after a group of alleged gang members was asked to leave the event.

San Marino Police Lt. Timothy Harrigan said detectives are searching for three vehicles used by the attackers to flee the party, which had been advertised with flyers. The vehicles were described as a red 1990 or 1991 Honda Civic hatchback with tinted windows, lowered suspension and black bumpers; a gray 1990 or 1991 Honda Civic four-door that may be damaged on the left side, and a white 1985 Mitsubishi Tredia four-door.

He said the assailants, possibly a male and female of Filipino or other Asian ethnicity, were believed to be in their late teens or early 20s. Money not used for rewards will go to setting up a hot line for reporting gang or drug problems, a gang awareness program and a campaign to spread information about the dangers of so-called flyer parties, city officials said.
