LOS ANGELES : Two Deputies Fired On in Routine Traffic Stop
Two sheriff’s deputies patrolling the Metro Rail Blue Line shortly after midnight Monday were fired on during a traffic stop, but no one was injured, authorities said.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Larry Lincoln said the deputies had stopped a car for minor traffic violations at Nadeau Street and Central Avenue in South Los Angeles at 12:25 a.m. when the car’s occupants opened fire.
As one of the deputies returned the fire, the car sped off, he said. Authorities searched throughout the night for the vehicle and its three occupants, and by late Monday two suspects were being held. However, no weapons were recovered and no arrests had been made.
