A group of seven teen-agers followed a 17-year-old into his home, and one person in the group stabbed him in the chest with a small knife, police said Friday.

Family members told police that the victim, Fredy Urquiza, walked out of his family’s house in the 200 block of North Figueroa Street about 9:25 p.m. They said that the teen-ager turned around almost immediately and walked back, followed by the group, said Sgt. Dick Faust.

“It appears that one person is responsible for the stabbing, even though he was accompanied by six other people,” Faust said.

After the stabbing, the group ran. They remain at large, and no arrests have been made.

The victim’s parents and a brother, who were at home when the stabbing occurred, took him to the hospital. His condition was not released.

Police have not yet established a motive for the stabbing. The knife has not been found, Faust said.
