An unidentified motorcyclist was killed early Saturday when he apparently lost control of his vehicle in Granada Hills and was ejected off his seat and into a pole, police said.

The accident happened as the man traveled north on Balboa Boulevard near Woodley Avenue, Los Angeles Police Officer Clark Baker said. The motorcyclist was found about 2:30 a.m. by passing motorists and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, where he died soon afterward.

The motorcyclist was described as a white male in his 20s and was riding a 1988 Kawasaki Ninja. Authorities said he carried no identification.
