2 Quake-Damaged Libraries to Reopen
The days of long treks across the San Fernando Valley in search of an open library are coming to an end.
The West Valley Regional Branch and Van Nuys Branch libraries have announced they will reopen Monday after repairing damage caused by the Jan. 17 Northridge earthquake.
Hours for the West Valley library will be noon until 8 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Van Nuys library will be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Thursdays and Fridays from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Because the two libraries are reopening, three other libraries will end their extended schedules instituted after the quake.
The Encino-Tarzana Branch Library will now be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30 to 8 p.m., Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Thursdays and Fridays from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.
The Panorama City and Canoga Park Branch Libraries will share the same schedule--Mondays and Tuesdays, 12:30 to 8 p.m.; Wednesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.; and Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
