TUSTIN : Voters to Decide on Council Term Limits

City voters will decide in November if council members should be limited to serving two terms.

But Mayor Thomas R. Saltarelli and Councilman Jeffrey Thomas said they believe voters should be given the option of choosing between two-term or three-term limits for council members.

They said that the city will have less clout on county and regional boards that operate on a seniority basis if council members are limited to two terms. A full term lasts four years.

The City Council this week voted 4 to 0 to approve a measure that will allow voters to decide on the two-term limit. Saltarelli and Thomas joined council members Jim Potts and Michael J. Doyle in voting for the measure. Councilwoman Tracy Worley was absent.
