Good news for the U.S. team. It may win something from this World Cup after all--the FIFA Fairplay Contest.

Based on an assessment of a team’s conduct during the games, FIFA is tracking the Fairplay sweepstakes. Criteria include respect toward opponents, behavior of team officials and behavior of the crowd.

The U.S. team is ahead so far, having behaved better than the Swiss, the Brazilians--who are tied with the Belgians--and the Mexicans.
