The 84,147 fans who filled Stanford Stadium on July 4 for the United States-Brazil game were more than 3,000 past the facility’s listed World Cup capacity.

That attendance beat by 88 the crowd of 84,059 at Stanford for Super Bowl XIX in 1985, which matched the San Francisco 49ers and the Miami Dolphins.
