CONEJO VALLEY : Collections Sought to Restock Food Bank

Share

To restock Manna, the local food bank, the Conejo Valley Board of Realtors will hold a “Super Saturday” grocery collection outside seven local supermarkets today.

Volunteers will stand outside the markets urging shoppers to purchase a few extra items to donate to Manna. The food bank will accept canned goods, diapers, paper supplies and groceries. Last year, a similar event collected $7,000 worth of food.

“People give a lot around Christmas, but in the summer Manna doesn’t have much food, so we’re trying to stock their shelves,” organizer Steve Perry said.

To further bolster Manna, the real estate agents will hold a charity fashion show at Charley Brown’s restaurant on Moorpark Road later this month. Tickets to the show, scheduled for July 28th at 6 p.m., cost $15. For more information, call Perry at 529-0836.

The grocery stores participating in today’s food drive are: Vons markets on Avenida de los Arboles, Agoura Road and Kanan Road; Ralphs market on Moorpark Road; Lucky market on Newbury Road, Pavilions in North Ranch; and Hughes Market on Ventu Park Road.
