A 22-year-old Santa Ana man was shot to death and two others were wounded early Sunday during what police called a gang-related, drive-by shooting.

None of the victims were identified, pending notification of their relatives. The wounded, a 15-year-old boy and another 22-year-old man, were listed in stable condition at local hospitals and are expected to live, said Sgt. Brian Collins of the Santa Ana Police Department.

The shooting occurred about 1:50 a.m. in the 300 block of North Jackson Street, a residential area frequented by gangs, Collins said.

The victims were talking outside a home when a car drove up, Collins said. Immediately after the 15-year-old approached the car to talk to the driver, shots were fired and all three victims were hit, Collins said.

The man who was killed was shot once in the back and pronounced dead at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, Collins said. The other two victims were shot in the lower body.

The assailants fled and no weapon was recovered. The incident is under investigation by the department’s gang detail, Collins said.
