LAGUNA NIGUEL : Councilwoman Will Run for Reelection

Share

City Councilwoman Patricia Bates said this week that she will run for reelection in November.

If reelected, Bates said, she will focus on privatization, youth involvement and future development of the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, which the federal government plans to close.

“There must be a continuity in leadership,” said Bates, who has been on the council since the city’s incorporation in 1989. “We’ve been on the cutting edge of new technology in privatization. That’s an important mission since there is a continual problem with revenues at the county and state government level.”

As the council’s representative to the El Toro Reuse Planning Authority, Bates organized a well-attended town hall meeting on alternatives for developing the base.

The council seat held by Councilman James F. Krembas also will be decided in November. Krembas has not said whether he plans to run again.
