Police Department Gets 3% Pay Increase
Sworn officers and other Police Department workers will receive 3% pay raises under a new contract approved Tuesday night by the City Council.
The council imposed the one-year contract after failing to reach an agreement with the 31-member Police Officers Assn. after more than a year of negotiations. Other municipal employees received 3% pay raises early this month.
Detective Dave Blitz, head of the association, said he was disappointed with the contract. Police officers were hoping for raises of 5% to 6%, he said.
Officer’s salaries will range from $34,800 to $43,600 under the new contract.
