CSUN Quake Repairs

Share

* Your report on earthquake recovery (July 17) correctly stresses the amount of work yet to do. However, because repair work at Cal State Northridge has continued around the clock this summer, conditions on campus will be much better this fall than last spring.

Sections of several major permanent classroom buildings have been repaired and will house classes. The core of the Oviatt Library building will reopen, allowing access to its vast book collection and study spaces. Most classes and all labs will take place on campus rather than off. Student housing has been strengthened and will reopen. And important new buildings will open for the first time.

Although major repair work will continue on campus as throughout Los Angeles, the work that has been done so far will greatly improve classroom and study conditions at Northridge this fall.
