Piggott Is Injured in Spill
English jockey Lester Piggott was rushed to a hospital Thursday after suffering head and neck injuries in a fall at Goodwood Racecourse.
Piggott, 58, was initially diagnosed as having a concussion, but no other serious injuries.
Piggott was unseated from his mount, Coffee N’ Cream, when his saddle slipped at the eighth pole. He hit the ground head first with considerable force.
On Oct. 31, 1992, Piggott suffered multiple injuries and was hospitalized after a spill in which Mr. Brooks broke down during the Breeders’ Cup Sprint at Gulfstream Park at Hallandale, Fla.
