NEWBURY PARK : Actress Charged in Child Molestation

Share

Prosecutors on Tuesday charged an unemployed porn actress from Newbury Park with six criminal counts in connection with molesting a 14-year-old boy.

The boy told police that Laurie Ann Arden, 45, hired him to help her move and showed him nude images of herself before they had sex.

Arden is charged with two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, two counts of sexual conduct using a foreign object, one count of showing explicit photos to a minor and another charge of lewd and lascivious conduct with a minor.

Arden’s arraignment in Ventura County Municipal Court, scheduled for Tuesday, was postponed until Friday so her lawyer could review the police reports in the case.

Police confiscated several videotapes, disks and other computer equipment from a room Arden rented at the E-Z 8 Motel in Newbury Park. Currently unemployed, Arden has posed for sexually explicit films and magazines as recently as several months ago, authorities said.

She is the second woman in eastern Ventura County charged with having sex with a teen-age boy in recent months. Charges in the other case, against Gloria Goldman, 35, of Simi Valley, were dropped after a judge mistakenly refused to allow a witness to testify on Goldman’s behalf during a preliminary hearing. The boy in that case has recanted and prosecutors have not refiled charges against Goldman.

Deputy Public Defender Neil B. Quinn, who represents both women, said it was rare for women to be charged with having sex with boys. But in light of the complaints against Goldman and Arden, he said he was not surprised that charges were filed in either case.
